A love story among the plants

Haley and Ben got engaged at new years in the first seconds of 2024! For them new years is a sentimental time as it was the night they first told each other they loved each other. What an amazing way to bring in the new year!

The love they share radiates through every photo I took of them. They were present in each other’s eyes, a constant smile on Haley’s face and their laughter rippled across the plants. a truly inspiring love.

Ben and Haley were a Tinder success story! Their first date they were the last ones in the restaurant, the waitress had to tell them to leave! they were talking all night as if they knew each other forever. Their second date they closed down the bar. I guess the next step in their relationship is to be the last ones standing at their wedding!

I can see them sitting at a table after all of their guests leave, laughing and reminiscing about all of their memories they have shared and the amazing wedding day they just had.

Ben and Haley’s friends and family have always said they are meant for each other. I felt the same energy in their presence. some times you just know when a couple is going to be successful.

tips for engagement sessions

tip # 1

Get your ring cleaned before the shoot! you want that baby shiny and sparkling! During an engagement session there will be lots of ring shots so you want to make sure that rock is looking it’s best!

If you don’t have time to get to the Jewellers you can clean your ring with a soft tooth brush and dawn dish soap. Make sure you clean it in a bowl so you don’t drop it in the sink! Learn from me, I made this mistake and lost a diamond in my ring…..$600 mistake later I always use a bowl!

tip # 2

Pick a casual outfit and a more formal outfit! during my engagement sessions you have the choice to wear two outfits. This will give you a set of two different galleries.

tip # 3

Do something in your photoshoot that resonates with the both of you as a couple! If camping is your thing, lets do a camping themed shoot! If you love breweries then let’s go have a beer!

Haley loves plants, so naturally we ended up at a greenhouse and you better believe she was buying a plant after the shoot!

tip # 4

If you are doing a trial for your make up, get it done for your engagement shoot! For one thing you get bomb make up for your photoshoot and for another this allows you the opportunity to see how your make up will look getting photographed. this way adjustments can be made for your wedding day if need be.

Ritchie’s Springhill Nursery in Pembroke, Ontario

Ritchie’s was the perfect backdrop for this stunning engagement session. It is a great option during winter as the plants have to stay warm to survive so they keep the temperatures at a high like the summer! If you want to wear a dress, you can wear a dress!

The managers here are so gracious to let us use the space for photoshoots. If you love plants and want that green nature look during winter, this is a great option! They have hundreds of plants with different textures, colours and flowers which give your photos depth and interest.

Haley and Ben were so fun to work with and they really made my job easy.

One really adorable thing that haley told me is that her and Ben’s birthdays are 2 days apart so they spend the whole weekend celebrating their birthdays together! Birthday weekend!! <3 how special is that?

I have no doubt these two were meant to meet each other and fall in love. They share something we all yearn for in life!
